Geoblocking

« Back to Glossary Index

Geoblocking is the process of limiting access outbound to the internet or inbound to a network based on physical location. The use of geoblocking in security can be helpful in reducing the amount of malicious traffic from countries that there is no business use case tied to interactions.

There are specific high-threat countries that should always be blocked if it is approved to do so. It is also recommended to periodically check what countries are being accessed and accessing internet facing resources to understand a specific baseline.
