Blumira crew at RSA 2022
Our crew at RSAC 2022. See you this year, most likely without masks!

Welcome back to our RSA Conference 2023 blog series, where we’ll provide you with helpful tips and exciting events happening April 22 – 27, 2023 in the SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco during the RSA Conference (RSAC). In our last blog post, we shared some recommendations for what to check out around the Moscone Center, and this week we will share the talks and events we are looking forward to at BSides, RSA Conference, and more.

To get the most out of your time at this event, it’s essential to plan ahead. Start by setting some goals for yourself and what you hope to accomplish or learn. In our case, we looked back to June 2022 and the hottest topics trending. More on that at the show! Then, review the conference agenda and colocated event agendas, and plan your time to align with your goals. Even if you don’t have a paid RSAC badge with full access, there are still free sessions and events you can attend, as well as some great opportunities at events hosted by BSides, Cloud Security Alliance, and us, Blumira!

Oh wait, you need a conference pass? For $150 off a full conference pass, use code 52FCDBLUMIR, or for a free expo center badge, visit this specific RSAC registration page and use code 52EBLUMIRXP.

And before we share the recommendations, be sure to stop by the Blumira booth, S-4120 (just north of) South Expo (near the south escalators, in the tunnel between south and north). If I’ve made that worse than your least favorite navigation app, see the little diagram below. We want to share our exciting new platform capabilities that expand our offerings from our SIEM / endpoint product considerably into new territory.

And Tuesday night, April 25, join Blumira along with LimaCharlie at our party designed with you in mind. https://info.blumira.com/rsac-2023

Now, onto our recommendations. Say hi if you see us there!

BSidesSF

Before the RSA Conference is fully underway, check out BSides San Francisco, hosted at the Metreon, and providing easier access to cybersecurity professionals at just $70 a badge. BSides is run fully by volunteers, and they are still looking for more folks to help with various aspects of the event. It’s a great opportunity to meet peers, have fun, and support a member-driven event. If you haven’t been to a BSides event yet, we highly recommend checking it out.

Cloud Security Alliance

Cloud Security Alliance hosts an event on Monday, April 23. The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Summit at RSA Conference 2023 brings together a wide range of talks, panels, and workshops. Attendees will have the chance to deepen their knowledge and expand their skill set.

One of the CSA talks that caught my attention was UN ICC Cloud Strategy, presented by Tima Soni, Chief and Head of UNICC Valencia office, UNICC Cybersecurity Division. She will explain how the unique needs of the United Nations agencies are resulting in a carefully designed security model, and provide key insights into the importance of digital sovereignty and key future trends.

Another good one at CSA will be Attacker Mindset in the Cloud, presented by Taylor Bianchi, Senior Offensive Security Researcher, Uptycs. Speaking of Uptychs, check out this week’s Blumira and Uptychs webinar, Digital Forensics and Incident Response: Shifting Up DFIR from XDR to the Cloud, featuring our lead security researcher, Amanda Berlin.

RSA Conference

At RSA Conference, with a free expo pass, you can attend the West Stage Keynote Sessions, Partner Seminars, Marketplace, Partner Perspective Track, Sponsor Briefings, and multiple networking opportunities throughout both expo halls providing the chance to connect with fellow cybersecurity professionals. In addition to the networking opportunities, the RSA Conference also hosts other exciting events that provide a much-needed break from the conference’s intense sessions.

Free Expo Pass opportunities include:

  • Welcome Reception (throughout both expo halls, Monday, April 23, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm)

And the keynotes…well we love a good Monty Python skit…in fact, you might see us trying our best imitation of Silly Walks in our booth. But this won’t compare to seeing Eric Idle, renowned English comedian, actor, and writer, who is best known as a co-creator of the legendary Monty Python comedy troupe. He will be an RSAC keynote speaker on Wednesday, April 26, from 11:30 am – 11:55 am at Moscone West Street Level. The talk will focus on the power of teamwork and how it helped Monty Python become successful. Attendees will also hear how the song “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” became a hit and a life philosophy for Eric, who overcame Show Business, COVID, Cancer, and Crucifixion. It’s a talk that promises to be both entertaining and inspiring.

At Blumira, cybersecurity events like these are important to us, and we love to have fun and constantly learn more. We’re proud to showcase our commitment to the community in the face of cyber threats. Our platform allows lean teams to respond quickly and effectively to threats, minimizing the damage and speeding up the recovery process.
